We are happy to announce to our patrons and the community that we have achieved the prestigious ISO 15189:2007 accreditation.
It is awarded for our quality and our competence in conformity to the International Standards of the medical laboratories from Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB), which is a signatory to the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) of the International Laboratory Accreditation Corporation.
Our Laboratory Services have served the nation for more than 17 years providing fast and accurate results for early diagnosis, which is an important aspect of our care and expertise.
Preventive care is also important as curative care.
In focus of the above, we inform our community with great pleasure that we were the official healthcare partner for the 'RCGC Standard Charted Open 2012', the first ever International golf tournament organised in Sri Lanka.
The tournament was held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club from 14th August to 18th August 2012. Around 100 professional international players graced this event. Sports can play a major role in preventing a person from being sick as it helps to achieve and maintain good health by improving a person's strength, stamina, the immune system and the confidence in all activities.
As a leading healthcare provider in Sri Lanka, our attempt is to have a healthy nation by encouraging growth of sports in the country.
To reiterate our pledge of "patient care with international standards", we are happy to inform our patrons and the community that we comply with the United Nations Global Compact, a principle based framework for business.
These principles highlight areas of human rights, labour, anti-corruption and the environment. This reflects the basic concepts of fairness, honesty, respect for people and the environment in all our actions.
Further, the United Nations Global Compact compliance shows our support of broader goals such as the Millennium Development Goals set by the United Nations.
This achievement confirms our commitment with our expertise and care to global standards.

Durdans has set up a total care concept where all aspects of diabetic care are seen to, at one centre and proper guidance and education aspects are done by experts of the various specialties.
The centre has the ability for diabetes screening and preliminary check-ups -basic and comprehensive, to be done to detect pre-diabetes and diabetes from the high risk groups and from individuals who have symptoms suggestive of diabetes.
So that they could be detected early before the end organs such as the eyes, kidneys, nerves, blood vessels, heart and the brain get affected and any irreversible damage is done.
These patients would be referred to a diabetologist for optimal diabetes care.
There are two other health check-ups for diabetics, who are already diagnosed to give them the best overall management advice, so that they can live a healthy life, keeping their diabetes under good control and not allowing deterioration.
The diabetes check-up is by a diabetologist where all aspects are assessed including foot assessment using the latest technology to detect early peripheral Neuropathy and Peripheral Vascular Disease.
This would help to give the best Podiatric care (foot care) to those with Diabetic Neuropathy before foot ulceration occurs leading to gangrene and even amputation of a foot or a limb. As prevention is better than cure!
Those with advanced diabetic foot problems are referred to a vascular surgeon who would do an assessment including Doppler studies and give specialized treatment.
There is an eye check by an ophthalmologist who checks out the retina specially and also looks for Glaucoma, which is a condition where the pressure in the eye is high. Cataract which is common, in diabetics, will also be detected if present. The aim is to detect diabetic retinopathy early and take corrective measures before blindness occurs.
There is a nutritionist within the centre, to whom the patient can be referred, for an appropriate dietary advice. If necessary, referral to a nephrologist (kidney specialist) is possible, when early kidney function test abnormalities occur, so that the best advice to prevent kidney failure can be obtained.
There is also follow-up check-ups for diabetes where you can select from a range from annual to bi-annual to quarterly checkups. These also will be done by a diabetologist.
