Dr Samanthi Godawelage is currently working as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at Durdans Hospital
She graduated from the University of Colombo and trained at the National Hospital Sri Lanka and Colombo South Teaching Hospital Kalubowila. Dr. Godawelage completed her post graduate studies in the UK at Freeman Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary New Castle Upon Tyne.
Having obtained two gold medals in Anaesthesiology, Dr Godawelage has worked extensively in the areas of Anaesthesia and Critical Care, including Critical Care medicine, pain management and in specialised areas related to cardiology intensive care, paediatric intensive care, trauma care, gynaecology and obstetrics intensive care, Cardiothoracic and general surgery and intensive care.
Dr Godawelage has experience and training in Anaesthesia for General Surgery and subspecialities including orthopaedic, ENT, facio-maxillary, dental ophthalmic, vascular and transplant, urological, plastic and reconstructive surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, neurosurgical, cardiothoracic, gynaecology and bariatrics.
Trained to treat cardiac and medical emergencies and manage pregnancy related complications and high-risk delivery cases, Dr Godawelage is competent and skilled in adult and paediatric anaesthesiology which include intubations, administering regionals (spinal, epidural, caudals, regional nerve blocks) central venous catheterisation, arterial cannulations, emergency thoracocentesis, pericardiocentesis insertion of intra-arterial balloon pump, intravenous pacing, etc
Her special interests are in bariatrics, cardiothoracic surgery and critical care.
